ENVIRONMENT ENVIRONMENT CLASS There was four classes of environment in which we were to draw world around us this included using different materials and perspectives. on the first day in my group our workshop explored around the ulster university campus and we drew and studied the buildings outside close by. at the start I struggled to complete fast pace sketches and studies however over times I believe I improved and learnt how to draw faster. using different materials and doing art rather than thinking about the process helped to form new fast working ethics and different ways of using elements in the picture to represent parts of the drawings I didn’t have time to draw. Overall I improved with my time management and my fast working skill set. these studies also allowed me to expand my focus by using large sketchbooks which I had never done before such as A3 and A2. on the second day when we had our work off campus I went out and explored Belfast collecting a range of photographs to use as drawing material in order to continue the work. 1ST AND 2ND DAY AROUND THE ULSTER UNIVERSITY CAMPUS- MIXED MEDIA OBSERVATIONAL STUDY WATERCOLOURS MARKER CHARCOAL SOFT PASTELS Ulster university observational studies 10 minutes A310 minutes A3 10 minutes A3 Drawing the person in front of us and conveying the scene 15 minutes A3 The cathedral 5 minutes A3 A building in the distance at the back of ulster university watercolours -skyline study capturing the sky 20-30 minutes A3 -skyline edge The mac 10 minutes A2 -close up of bricks, detailed drawing 20 minutes A2 Drawing the park beside ulster university – tree pro-markers 10 minutes A3 20-30 minutes- window reflection of ulster universities windows A3 mac centre square pro -markers 30 minutes A3 Portrait watercolours 30 minutes A3 portrait of Philip Steele 3RD AND 4TH DAY AT HOME OFF CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT CONTUNUATION 8-10 environment drawings using the five themes and the specification given 5 themes: decay, contrast, scale, re-design and height specification given: inside, outside, windows, shadows, detail, colour, negative space and a high viewpoint.
