SCULPTURE DESIGN

For this task we needed to create two ideas for sculptures. these ideas for sculptures should be able to be placed in the park beside the ulster university. We were required to finalise and develop one idea and draw the sculpture in three different angles for my sculpture I decided to do a front view, side view and back view. For my sculpture I decided to have it represent the park in someway but include interactive aspects. Using aspects of the park I though about different ways to incorporate the colourful designs of the park and the interactive pieces that reside in the park like the colourful fake play grass, musical instruments and colourful triangle patterns on the ground. the materials of my sculpture will be a hard bas in which is weather resistant and durable possibly carved out if stone. the covering of which shapes the true character of the sculpture will be fake play grass similar to that already in the park. this will allow the sculpture to be safe and soft enough of which will allow and experience for children to feel the fur of this sculpture creature.

Inside the sculpture and on the sculpture there will be LED lights places inside matching to the triangular panels on the creature sculpture as so at nigh the sculpture can light up alongside another interactive object in the park, a box which light up at night and changes colour. on the back of the sculpture there will be a slight hollowed out area in which a handle emerges this is a music box upon winding the handle forward a song will play. this aspect keeps the sculpture interactive engaging and giving a fun experience to an audience.

Overall the design of this sculpture was to convey the message of nature and mythical and fictional creatures not in a sense to frighten children but an idea that can give people a different aspect to sculptural art one that draws in wonder and a sense to inspire creativity. the sculpture itself will be roughly the size of a Christmas tree or large boulder, based on the image of fictional goblins and creatures but a body reference and inspiration towards gorillas and humans. the sculpture will aim to inspire curiosity. The sculpture enwrapped in a soft fake grass similar to that already in a play area of the park will allow people to be aware that the sculpture is safe enough to touch.
