Michael velliquette

Michael is an artist who specifies in creating paper sculptures which explores strength and durability his structures often displaying lots of layers and details. Michael was born in America 1971. he graduated from Florida state university in 1993 receiving a BFA but received his MA at Wisconsin Madison university. His paper art is that of a sculptural design creating complex constructions or fortress like sculptures.

His art includes the focal point of the papers durability how particular forld and layers amount to creating a  surface, variety of angles, structure, form, flexibility and mould. his paper structures are made from stacking and folding paper in different ways this allow him to sculpt but cutting the paper and shaping it into structures and mechanical gears.

Micheal can take around five hundred hours to complete and make the paper art by hand. he has been doing this artistic trade for twenty years and has held many exhibitions in museums and galleries such as chazen museum of art, Boston children’s hospital and the art museum of south Texas.

His sculptural art ranges from taking the form in paper sculptures and paper cuts. His craft carries a sense of dynamic design and representation into highly thought out ideas and plans. his paper sculptures typically host a vast amount of detail and interest and his paper cut work is very well shaped and proposed with how Michael fold and moulds the paper. another consideration is the colours added towards the paper the definitely add appeal and a unique flare if artistic expression.

 

Calvin Nicholls

Calvin is a Canadian artist who creates sculptures from fine detailed pieces of paper. he has been perfecting his skills since 1986. as a realistic paper artist he uses sheets of paper and scalpel techniques on the paper the achieve desired shaped and small details towards his art pieces. he cuts the paper and arranged it to that of his original design drawings. using layering techniques Calvin mounts the paper together forming slight shapes and textures building the bases of the paper sculpture he is creating.

his art is mainly based around animals forming and creating his paper sculptures to almost realistically represent in high detail the small textures, fine lines and the very essence of the animals he is capturing with paper.

His work has included that of advertising campaigns, private collectors, institutions, book publishers, cooperate gift companies and galleries. Calvin typically works with white paper to draw in more form and textures with shadows and form. Calvin received his education at the Sheridan college in Oakville Ontario and studied graphic design. He then began his own freelance studio eventually after seven years started towards paper sculptures.

Calvin process when creating his high in depth paper sculptures starts with a typical design process of concept art. when working with clients he will sketch ideas and subject matter including all aspects like materials size and budget. he will then after confirming the initially design start creating the final sketches and drawings later transferring them top tracing paper in order to start sculpting the cut paper onto the drawing.

 

 

Yulia Brodskaya

 

Yulia is a paper artist and illustrator who worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in 2006 however she now uses paper and glue to achieve amazing masterpieces that are the end result of piecing together and folding paper to create amazing designs and works of art. Her artworks are very vibrant and illustrational with how she frames her designs. Her three- dimensional work is yulias unique way of creating art in her own words “I draw with paper not on it”

Yulia was born in 1983 Moscow and lived there however moved too the uk in 2004. She studied at the Hertfordshire university and graduated in 2006. after this she became a freelance illustrator and designer before switching to paper. her work includes dynamic and interesting designs however some of her pieces capture and display typographic design including her graphic design skills into her own art by using a technique called quilling. in 2009 she was named on creative review and has persistently exploring new ways to practice her craft.

her work ascends towards portraiture and typography keeping a colourful playful and illustrative style her artworks are distinct and clear in meaning and design purpose using the paper in lines to create textures and forms in a creative and innovative way.
