Morning Class

In the morning class we were tasked with picking a tree that Michael had made and texturing it in a style we had picked. He also asked us to answer these questions about our trees.

1)What kind of emotion are you trying to convey?

2) Any clear rules for the art style? (Gradients, soft pastels, paint strokes, etc.) break the style down as much as possible.

I started by researching spooky looking trees.

I have chosen to texture the ‘tree B’ model as it has a creepy look and that is what I am going for. I like the idea of a twisted, dark, ominous look and the ‘tree B’ model suits it perfectly. After looking at my references I noticed that dark, desaturated colours such as green, brown, black and grey are very common. Also, the trees seem to have deep grain and defined knots on the trunks. They also tend to have moss on the trunk.

Afternoon Class

In the afternoon I worked on UV unwrapping my models, I was able to finish the four candle holders and the two sconces.

Homework

I continued to UV unwrap my models and finished the bin and the four candles. I am now moving onto texturing.
