Graphic Design- Logo Ideas

Here i’ve created a series of ideas for the live logo competition. I’ve attempted to use a variety of medias including: lino print, marker, chalk pens and paint markers. I gathered inspioration from a few books which were (Decoding Logos, Why we design and Logo) I found that researching through books really enhanced my ideas and trying to focus on how to make them creative and meaningful at the same time. There are not many in colour as i preferred to experiment more in black and white first before experimenting with colour. So far there are only a few that stand out, as my next stage i will begin to finalise my chosen logo.

Graphic Design- Sketchbook Images

Here i’ve presented my pervious images of Cathedral Quarter into my sketchbook, these images will help influence my design ideas. My initial ideas for this project is to attempt to experiment as much as possible with colour, typography, collage and shapes, which can include shapes of buildings etc.

Graphic Design- Sketchbook Images

These are first-hand images that are presented in my sktchbook which are based on the four Exhibitions i had visted such as the: Cataylst Arts Exhibition, The Mac Gallery, The Golden Thread Gallery and Belfast Exposed. I’ve found that having images presented in my sketchbook is beneficial especially when trying to work on ideas for this project.

Catalyst Arts Exhibition- Observation Sketches

This was another very minimal exhibition based on Catalystr Arts. This was a very spacious area which is an element that i took into consideration when it came to the observation sketches. The main elements that I found interesting was that there was no colour used at all and also the shapes, which is something that would work well within this project.

Graphic Design- Adobe Illustrator Experimental

Here I’ve created sixteen experimental pieces based on my chosen theme which is Belfast. I had combined my sketchbook typography pieces and my first hand images of the historical, architectural buildings and structures around Belfast. I had experimented with various tools and effects, by using Adobe Illustrator.

My next stage is to create a hand made zine booklet, which I will then print out these experimental pieces and combine them into this zine.

TADF – Structure Drawings

These are a series of timed sketches based on a mannequin that involves different types of materials. I’ve also looked at creating drawings based on the fabric itself, where I’ve roughly sketched the outline and created my own pattern/design.

Fine art – printing

These are a few experimental prints based on a sculpture that was made in the first week.

I intend on creating more prints similar to this subject to go towards an idea for a final piece which could be based on one or more of these prints to either make a collage or an abstract piece, using various media’s such as coloured paper, pens, paint or fabric.
