Graphic Design- Logo Ideas

Here i’ve created a series of ideas for the live logo competition. I’ve attempted to use a variety of medias including: lino print, marker, chalk pens and paint markers. I gathered inspioration from a few books which were (Decoding Logos, Why we design and Logo) I found that researching through books really enhanced my ideas and trying to focus on how to make them creative and meaningful at the same time. There are not many in colour as i preferred to experiment more in black and white first before experimenting with colour. So far there are only a few that stand out, as my next stage i will begin to finalise my chosen logo.

Graphic Design- Sketchbook Images

Here i’ve presented my pervious images of Cathedral Quarter into my sketchbook, these images will help influence my design ideas. My initial ideas for this project is to attempt to experiment as much as possible with colour, typography, collage and shapes, which can include shapes of buildings etc.

Graphic Design- Cathedral Quarter Images

These are First-hand images of the Catedral Quarter area, these images are to help influence logo ideas for a live competition. By using thes images i intend on creating various ideas in my sketchboook and to also incorporate these images into my designs.

Catalyst Arts Exhibition- Observation Sketches

This was another very minimal exhibition based on Catalystr Arts. This was a very spacious area which is an element that i took into consideration when it came to the observation sketches. The main elements that I found interesting was that there was no colour used at all and also the shapes, which is something that would work well within this project.

Belfast Exposed Gallery- Observation Sketches

Another Art Exhibition thats based on Belfast Exposed Gallery. Again, including a sketch of the space around the art work and i’ve sketched out the main areas that i found interesting. I’ve found that this Exhibiton was very minimal with there colour, but i really like the abstract pieces and those with great textures.

Golden Thread Gallery- Observation Sketches

Here are a few other observation sketches based on The Golden Thread Gallery. i’ve also included a sketch showing the space surrounding the area, which is a main focus on this inspiring Typograpghy piece. I’ve incorporated a range of other sketches that include different textures, shapes, colour and typographic lettering. I plan on choosing this exhibiton to work on throughout this project.

Exhibition- Belfast Exposed Gallery

This exhibition was based in the Belfast Exposed Gallery, which was called “Nothing but a Curtain” by Vera Hadzhiyska. So here I’ve taken various photos of the artist’s work and the space surrounding. What I like about this exhibition is that it’s very abstract and it’s showing a variety of media’s including: textures from fabric pieces, photography pieces, set ups and colour.

Graphic Design- Sketchbook Experimental Work

These are a series of mixed media experimental studies of Typographic words, letters, numbers and symbols. In some experimental pieces I have incorporated several media’s including: watercolour, pen, marker, coloured paper, photocopies etc.

I’ve also included any digital work that I created on figma as well as other mixed media pieces. I’d decided to work with what materials I had and make good use out of them, which created nice collages inspired by my first hand images.

Graphic Design- Adobe Illustrator Experimental

Here I’ve created sixteen experimental pieces based on my chosen theme which is Belfast. I had combined my sketchbook typography pieces and my first hand images of the historical, architectural buildings and structures around Belfast. I had experimented with various tools and effects, by using Adobe Illustrator.

My next stage is to create a hand made zine booklet, which I will then print out these experimental pieces and combine them into this zine.
