Interactions and Animations

This week, Kyle gave us the link to the animation section of the awwwards website.

Since I’m still not too sure of what types of interactions and animations I should include throughout my prototype and website, I thought it would be a good idea to look to this for inspiration before I get started.

Upon scrolling down the examples, there were a good few that caught my eye. I did end up watching the previews of them all, though, and I thought so many of them felt very immersive and fun to use!

The first one I really liked was by Benjamin Righetti. For this, he combined horizontal and vertical scrolling to create something reminiscent of the Apple website, but a bit more artsy (in my opinion). I really love how everything moves and comes together, then apart as you scroll.

I’m not entirely sure how I would create an interaction like this, but I’d like to at least attempt something similar. I know that I definitely want to attempt some sort of cool horizontal scroll interaction on my website somewhere though.

The second one that I found to be really interesting was one by Le Chef d’orchestre du corps. This one was about scroll to reveal animations. I loved the overlapping elements, and seeing how they moved independently of one another as you scroll. I also like the idea of scrolling down for other elements to show on the screen, and this is something I’d like to try out as well.

The final one I wanted to mention was this animation by Studio Ouam. It looks like you hover over the stickers, and they fall off one by one to reveal what’s underneath. I know that I want to include some hover to reveal animations and interactions on my website – but something like this would be super cool! I think it’s really immersive, and creates a fun experience for the user as well.

Thoughts:

After looking through all of the examples on the awwwards website, I feel like I have a few more ideas of what to include within my prototype and website. However, I don’t know if I’ll be able to do anything as impressive as what I saw, unfortunately. In saying that, this was a great source of inspiration, and also just a really interesting experience. It’s cool to see the kinds of things I might be doing down the line.
