I was sick so had to take off class today which I was annoyed about because missing class adds to my stress levels. We were meant to be doing the powerpoint today so the group presented it and told me the feedback.
My main tasks for this week is doing the texturing for the book and for the bakery itself. Trying to UV map the book was very frustrating at points as it felt like I was fighting blender to get it to do what I wanted but I got it to a workable state in the end.
I realised I had n-gons in certain places and after making them triangles the mesh finally was cooperating.

For the book prop I came up with some initial sketches that I then asked my group for feedback on an changed accordingly. I went through a few design stages for the cover as I wanted it to look right since it is the most prominent prop in the animation itself as that is what is view first.
These were some of the first initial attempts using substance I quickly restarted as trying to do neat writing with no drawing tablet is almost impossible.
This is one of the fonts I was looking at as I wanted the book to look fancy however it is too difficult to read so I went with a simple font in the end to give clarity. The cleaner font also gave me the opportunity to have everyone’s names on the front of the cover.
This is how the book looked in the end with just base colours vs some finer detailing like adding flour splotches and making look used and slightly aged.
Some of the textures in substance that are intended to be blood splatters worked really well for the flour hand prints. This really helped me play about with how to use different textures in substance and create finer details.

I used these YouTube videos on how to get text and the png of the cake go onto the object.
Due to this taking me so long I wasn’t able to do the baker. So someone else in the group took that over for me. I was pretty disappointed in myself that I wasn’t able to get everything finished. I feel like the rest of my group are doing more work but I just feel like I am not able to keep up.
