Week 1 – Module Introduction

Morning Class:

During the morning class we had an introduction that covered the student reps, a module introduction, the scheduling of this semester and the next and discussing the current ideas everyone has for the final year project. We also covered the breaks, deadlines and modules that will happen over the next two semesters.

Next we covered the marking criteria for the major project, the planning and scheduling of the project and the learning outcomes. We will also receive one to one feedback from lectures during the duration of this project. The brief for the project showed that we will need to problem solve through blog posts and have a final 5000 word submission at the end of semester 1.

Next we were shown some examples of projects of various media and team sizes from previous years before being given a list of benefits of forming a team like being able to focus on different skills, better motivation throughout the project and it will feel more like an industry/studio experience.

After, we split off into groups of our choosing to discuss some possible ideas for the final project.

We were then informed of a pitch presentation on Tuesday 11th of October which is a short presentation to demonstrate your ideas and some of the pre-production for the project to the class. We will then receive feedback from the lectures and the class. This isn’t a marked presentation and should be kept to around 10 minutes. Afterwards we were shown some examples of pitch presentations from previous years.

Afternoon Class:

After lunch we were given another activity.

We talked to other groups about our own ideas and their ideas for the project.

Homework/Assignment:

For homework we were tasked with fleshing out the story by figuring out the concept and theme, creating some moodboards for the characters and environments and making a list of what we will be making.
