For week 3, we learned how tone and value can alter how the viewer preserves an image. We were also shown tutorials on how to cross hatch to create a variety of tone within a piece.
We were tasked with creating 6 more thumbnails and a more detailed piece with a variety of tone, value and cross hatching.
Thumbnails
When creating these thumbnails I thought of classic scenes that were used in gangster films and took inspiration from that.
When detailing the chosen thumbnail I wanted to show the texture of the building to make it look more like a building and less like a coffee machine but still maintaining the machines shape. I don’t normally use cross hatching in my drawings but I like how it turned out.

A mood board created from images I found on the internet that had the film noir look I wanted and some coffee machines that reminded me of buildings.
