Making Changes & New Ideas

Since my feedback session with Kyle, I have been re-iterating my high resolution mock-ups, and making a few versions of different things to add in. We are having another critique session on week 12, so I will be able to show these ideas then, and receive the opinions of him an my peers on what else to do or to fix.

The first thing I wanted to do from here was create some function feedback. This would be for after a new element is found on a planet, and then added to the periodic table.

For this, I had a few ideas about the screens that would show after, and take you to the periodic table if you wanted.

Here are the iterations:

Option 1

This option begins with the function feedback with a call-to-action. You’re then directed to a loading / title page for the periodic table screen. This also has a call-to-action which will then take you to the periodic table which has a bit of information on how to use it. I left the periodic table small in this iteration though – and Kyle suggested that I make it bigger, so I tried to incorporate this into the next iteration.

Option 2

The second one has the same function feedback screen – but takes you to a timed loading page that allows you to read the information before it moves into the periodic table screen.

The periodic table is a lot larger, and scrollable, in this option; and it has a button that can direct you back to space. I also added in stars and planets scattered around to maintain the personality of the app.

Option 3

The final iteration, again, has the same function feedback. This then would take you straight into the periodic table page, and includes the information of how to use it, as well as a button for going back to space. It also is scrollable, and a lot larger (making the buttons more tappable to small hands). Although, I still might make a quick timed title screen for this iteration as I think it’s the one I’m going to go with. The first option has too many unnecessary buttons in order to actually view the periodic table, and the second one may still make it hard for slow readers to take in the information before the screen goes off.

I also created a screen that will give information about how to play the game. This will come up when you hit “Continue Game” on the loading screen, as well as when you hit the “Help” button.
