IXD104: Knowledge Is Beautiful- Book Review

This book by David McCandless is full of incredible work which can inspire me and teach me more about the world of infographics. He provides context to sometimes complex information which plays a big part in understanding ideas. I was intrigued by his style and how he uses imagery and patterns to help visualise data. I think he does an amazing job at making information much more engaging, interesting, and easier to read.

Here are some of my favourite pieces:

This book has opened my eyes to more ways to visualise data which I can use going forward. He covers a wide range of topics so there is something for everyone. He uses a consistent colour pallet and I like how he uses colour to connect elements and make things stand out. I like a lot of his simpler work as it displays the information in small chunks, making it easy to read. This also shows that you don’t need to overly complicate things. Overall, I think his work is visually appealing, interesting to look at and his unique ideas are inspiring.
