This was my first attempt at digitizing my monogram. I created it using illustrator as I wanted to become more familiar with the software. I decided to keep it black and white in these early stages to ensure it was effective without the distraction of colour.
Some of the feedback I received was to elongate the “L” so it’s more prominent. This would also make it less of a square shape. It was also suggested that I make the lines bolder as this would make it more confident and stand out. Taking the feedback into consideration, I made some changes. I tried different variations of line width and extending the “L” to see what worked best.

I made sure to use a grid, so everything lined up neatly, making it look more visually appealing. Due to its boldness, this monogram is also more versatile. This means when it is reduced in size, it is still recognisable and it doesn’t get lost.
Adding colour:
After I was happy with how my monogram looked just using black, it was time to experiment with colour. The colour I chose was purple but I wanted to try different shades to see what worked best.
This is the one I decided to go for:
Purple symbolises creativity, imagination and it is quite energetic. I also think it comes across as bold and confident. All these ties in with my tone of voice as I used words such as, adventurous, and creative when describing myself. It is a purple-blue which can represent trust and dependability. This is important as I want people who come across my brand to feel I am trustworthy.
Overall, I am happy with how my monogram turned out. I like the idea of it resembling a maze as it can represent moving forward, showing confidence. It matches my tone of voice as I describe myself as adventurous and determined. I also think this could work well if it were to be animated. I feel that it is unique and interesting but still legible as you can tell what the letters are.
