Thinking of the future and coming to an end, I want to see what there is out in the world after my final year. I attended the event at the university to meet employers and businesses that have roles for graphic design graduates and others. I met a lot of different types of businesses and was surprised at which types of companies hire graphic designers such as law firms.
I know my confidence is very low and it took a lot of courage to go and shake hands and introduce myself but I’m proud I went and did what I set out to do. I was really drawn to corporate jobs such as the civil service as they have job security and a big team to support you, I also loved the idea of working with a small team and also in an environment I wouldn’t expect to have designers such as the law firm and small design houses and teams. It was interesting to see the different personalities of each type of business and how they are shown in various ways. I loved the leaflets and information surrounding portfolio building and what to expect in interviews etc.
As scary as finishing university is, it is also very exciting to see where I will end up next. Being creative is very important for me and having that space to show that side of me would be great wherever I might end up.
