Interaction Design – the finalised concept

Our paper prototype for a single process on Medella – completing a route. I really liked the general idea I came up with for our prototype. I feel like with some more time to work on it we would have been able to have a super strong design concept.
Some justification of our choices and the devices we designed our app for.
The profile I created to show the standard target audience for Medella.
I was super happy with the design idea for our logo. Although the one presented here is not a perfect example, it allowed for the basic premise to be shown. Pictured at the top was the customisable charcter design we came up with. We wanted to include something to increaser the chances of the user returning back to the app – therefore, we wanted to include an app mascot that you have the oppotunity to look after by completing the daily route!
Above ^ the details of our app and its premise
Overall, i was pleased with our effort. I feel if we didnt expand upon our original idea we could have had more time to develop our design ideas, however, I’m very glad we made the design to improve our concept as it definetley worked in our favour.

Interaction Design – planning stage work

The initial idea generation we did once we knew our 4 base words
Drawing up process flows of our apps functions. Planning out how we wanted our interfaces to look on the app.
Planning out our original ideas for the apps purpose – this later changed and developed into something we felt would be more interactive and better suited to our target audience.
Initial planning of our apps purpose which later changed
Our first real look at what our first idea looked like as an app. We decided we wanted to make it more specialised, increase the interactivity to ensure a good user experience, and also make better design choices that were specific to our app.
Initial design idea for the 50K milestone screen
Planning of our logo – we played around with colour and line until we were set on our final design- as pictured!
Planning of logo – we decided against this version as we wanted to simplify if down to a easy to use and recognisable symbol.
Our initial plan for the app layout. We quickly decided against multiple elements of our design choices and started again on creating a more aesthetically pleasing, cohesive design.

Digital work – 14 Figma creations!

Based on the word ‘fold’
Based on the word ‘ratio’
Based on the words ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Repetition’
Based on the word ‘Glyph’
Based on the word ‘Hierarchy’ – This is by far my favourite piece I created. I think it has a great sense of balance and is an interesting concept!
Based on the words ‘repetition’ and ‘modular’
Based on the words ‘process’, ‘contrast’, and ‘unit’ – I also really like this outcome. I think it’s one of my most interesting creations!
Based on the words ‘Align’ and ‘repetition’
Based on the words ‘tension’ and ‘scale’ – another favourite of mine. I really like the addition of slight depth. I feel it takes a basic concept and gives it more interest for the viewer
Based on the word ‘Proximity’ – I played around with this piece changing colours, changing the sizes of the circles and also playing with shadows and highlights. However, I couldn’t settle on an idea. Therefore I stripped it back to the basic concept and kept it with a monochromatic colourway. It is definitely not a favourite of mine but I do think the concept of Proximity is something I should explore again.
Based on the words ‘Random’ and ‘Process’ – I really love this piece. I love the colour graduation I decided to do!
Based on the word ‘Ratio’
Based on the word ‘Process’ and ‘Unit’
Based on the words ‘Tension’ and ‘Layer’

Digital Work – initial sketches!

Page one of digital planning work. I’m happy with the concepts I began to come up with. This was a very interesting way of thinking that I had not done before. I will definitely use this way of thinking when completing future projects as I feel it can help my work feel more dynamic!
Page 2. I started to play around with more interesting ideas here as I started to become more comfortable with this new concept. I really enjoyed playing around with how different shapes can create entirely different pieces when they are arranged in alternative ways.
Page 3. Here I started to play around more with lines instead of just shapes. I really enjoyed conceptualising these types of ideas.
Final page. Overall I really enjoyed this exercise. I would love to continue to explore this way of thinking and create more work like this! I feel like it provides a new one of thinking to create really interesting work!
