{Week 2} 3D Animation & Storyboard

Ball Rig:

For the second week we had the task of working with the 3D animation part, we had in class two tasks to do of animation that were a ball jumping to the top of a surface and a pendulum swinging the cable. In this animation of the ball I had more difficulty in making the movements of jumping to the top because of the time of the frames and also had some problems but with the help of my tutor Alec I managed to solve the difficulties I was having in the animation.

The second animation by my opinion was easier to make and less complicated than the ball movements, I didn’t find it too difficult and I really enjoyed making this animation I also managed to learn a new way of animation in blender. With this second shape with contain different parts separated like a different arm from a ball.

Storyboard:

After making some adjustments and work we had a little chat between us in the group to see how our ideas would look on the storyboard, our idea was to make our characters run from a kitchen roll so they wouldn’t get ‘squashed’. Each one in the group had the role of making a storyboard and then at the end we selected what the scenes would actually be.

To be honest this part of the story I’m not very good at doing i’m always lost in the ideas, but I’m glad that in my group the girls have lots of good ideas and great storyboards.

In this process we decided that we would change some things in the character because in the first idea there were 6 characters but now we managed to separate each character for the people in the group that are formed by 5.

Call:

To decide our final idea for the animation scenes we had to do a small call to talk about the ideas but because of the schedule problems I have and other people in the group due to work rations we had to do some separate lessons but always informing about any change. Our meeting happened on a Saturday but because I was working in the afternoon only me and Joyce talked about the scenes.

Talking with Joyce we made a very quick lesson just to organize the scenes and in this lesson I told her that I really liked Zoe’s storyboard with the first scenes of the animation, I had liked the first scenes for being very funny and I also sent some ideas of colour palettes and designs that I liked for the spot of the animation.
