Day 2 Illustration – Creating Collages from Photocopies of are 4 Elements Together to Create Different Types of Scenes

After we finished developing and experimenting our four elements, we had to construct different arrangements for certain scenes for within our narratives. To create the collages we had to photocopy our sketches and then position are four different elements on a few A6 sheets of paper and then choose four of our arrangements that we liked to then consider as a scene within our zine. I really enjoyed creating the collages and using the four different elements to help consider the positions and seeing how each collage could tell a story.

Day 1 Illustration – Creating and Designing 4 Elements in Different Mediums for My Zine

Tiger:

Sofa:

House Plants:

Rugs:

Above is my experimental Illustrations created with different mediums. The Illustrations we had to create were four elements that will appear within our zine narrative. The elements had to include a character or elements related to the narrative given in the brief, so I chose to Illustrate a Tiger, sofa, rug and houseplants. I chose to use a variety of mediums such as; watercolour, crayons, posca pens, markers, liners and pencil to show different experimentations of each element using each medium and mixing a few mediums together such as; watercolour with liner. After Illustrating the four elements we then had to photocopy our Illustrations and try out different positionings by creating collages. I really enjoyed seeing my own style come to life and also being able to understand the processes when creating the elements for my narrative.

Day 1 Illustration – Artist Research and Ideas for Narrative

For the first part of Illustration I wanted to research the Illustrator who created ‘The Tiger How Came For Tea’ Judith Kerr as when given our brief we had to choose between three different narratives to start our narrative development. The choses were child lost in the museum, Tiger in the house or running in the forest. I decided to choose Tiger in the house, as I remembered ‘The Tiger That Came For Tea’ storybook by Judith Kerr and following on from my artist research, I came up with a couple of ideas for my narrative to Illustrate my zine thumbnails.
