This Week’s Overview
This will be a very busy week for me as I had to start setting up my other projects for the year and there would be other commitments that would keep me out of the house. Because of this I only worked on substance painter for several of my completed assets. This week one of our team members would also have us vote on the name of the game.
Substance Painter
I continued to work on some of my biggest models on substance painter and at the time (as I am writing this retrospectively ) quite a few of our team thought we were going for the realistic style so I was doing the same. I got the wolf statue mostly finished, the only problem was that some textures don’t look right due to UV mapping, but I would return to those in the future unless my team mates thought that they were good enough. It finally felt good to see the statue completed as I it started around 7 weeks ago. I really do like how the mirroring image does fit well with the model and it’s very distinctive as the checkpoint in the game. I did finish texturing the bin which is quite good but at the end of the day it’s just a wooden barrel being used as a bin, so not much to say. The school house and log cabin were progressing well, but I thought there was something not quite right with them. The school house was way too dark, and the log ends should have been a different colour. I would make time throughout the next few weeks to fix those issues especially if the log cabin requires me to go back to its Maya file to add new texture types.
Deciding the name of the game
It was also during this week, our team member Holly realized our game doesn’t have an official name yet. In light of this, We set up a section with a pin board on Miro, where our team members who were present on the day would submit a whole bunch of different names. We then had three points each to pass on to what we felt were three best names. After 15 or so minutes, we decided that ‘Red Moon’ was the best name for the project.
