This Week’s Overview

For this week, a local teachers strike was on and only the Animation students were in due to Alec not being on strike and wanting to teach mocap(Motion Capture).  The Game Design students were not in, so we hale online meetings with them. I would also start working on the development of the final ideas for the Wolf Statue and begin creating the model basic structure in Maya. This would also be the final blog entry of this type for this assignment as,  going forward this blog will only mention work related directly to our game project.

2nd Class

The 2nd class of the day did not have a presentation, or a full team meeting due to the game design students being off because of the strike.  The animation students would use this time to catch up on some work for our Animation Discourse class, which had an assignment due in this week.

Concept Art Creation

With my concept art drawn up and developed last week and based on the outcome of the team vote I made several variations of the final design.  These were posted on Discord for the  final vote. These votes would be for:

  • The Dress: The overall look of the clothing, that tells the life style, and role of the Deity, and the culture of the people.
  • The Headpiece: The headpiece will represent how the Deity is believed to be ruling it’s people (Queen, Priest or Guardian). It is spilt from the dress as it is an asset worth talking about in it’s own right and is separate from the dress. It might also be cut from the final model if it is too hard for me to make.
  • Twisted Half Type: This vote decides how the dark influences take form on the Statue, whether it’s 50/50 like Yin and Yang, damaged like Two-Face from Batman or mutated like the Chaos Corruption from the Warhammer 40000.

Once I have the the final vote from all my team members, I will work quickly to create the Wolf statue. It  will have a high amount of quality, but I should not spend all my time creating it as I have other tasks in order to make my contribution to the team worthwhile. I will hopefully be able to talk to Team leader Aaron next week and see what else I can do for this project.

If I get the polls done before the end of the week, the results will be posted below in a screenshot.

3D Modeling

While I will be still attempting some extra concept art to help me get an idea for the statue, I have started to create the basic shape of the model in Maya. It’s nothing overly complicated at the moment, just getting the initial shape, pose and size down.
