Overview
Today in class, we were to show off our presentations for our 3D environment team idea and in the later haft of the day, work with ether Maya or Blender on a small pre-prepare test.
The Presentation
At the beginning of the day, something when wrong with my audio, and while I re recorded the lines, it was to late to make the fix. Luckily, one of my team members recorded back up audio for all the slides so we use that. The Presentation was well received, but we did get some feedback from the tutors that we have to remember going forward with. The key feedback point where:
- Cartoon/Stylized design dose not mean easier than live action as everything needs to be redesign in that art style.
- The forge while good, needs more creative design and layout in order to be more creatively engaging.
- Their is no clear centerpiece to the set. I came up with with the idea to fix that by having the flames of the forge in the back highlight the anvil in the central of the room.
These point where recorded by the team and over the courses of both the pre production and production we will alter our work to meat the demands of the feedback so our work can be the best it can
The Test.
After watching all the presentation and going on a lunch break, we where given a practical test on ether Maya or Blender (the choice is our). The test file were downloaded from Blackboard and once open, there were several object, set in rows of three. The first row would be the shapes we would work on, the second was the tutors example and the third row would hold the text with their volume receptive task. While I was good at 3D modelling, due to both not using the software that much over summer and a lack of knowledge of the other tools, I could only a swear 2 out of the 10 puzzle. Haft way into the class, the tutor gave us a document with all the right answers and we would follow these until the end of class.
After Class/Rest of the Week.
At home for the rest of the week I would continue to work with my team on the forge project, refining the feedback based on the presentations, as well as jotting down the answers to the puzzle in an easy to open folder on my desktop on my home pc. I did this so that if I need to relearn one of the tools in Maya, I would easily be able to check the guide.
