Introduction
After a 6 week Christmas break, I am back at work for the Ulster University. The Pandemic is still on going and until the new vaccine is give to everyone, so we are still learning from home using communication tool like Backboard and Discord. We have a new time table and 3 new classes. This blog will cover one of these classes, 3D Digital Literacy.
Last Year Marks
We spend the first hour of class going over our newly handed out marks based on last year’s work. At first I was worried that I was marked to low but when the Tutor went over the grading system more, I became more confident and happy with my overall grade. According to Alec, a 40% and above was a pass (a good grade) while an 80% and above is very rare. Only around 4 out of 50 students on average would ever breach that barrier. I will still read and record the feedback for future refences to improve my work quality in the future.
Upcoming Year Work for 3D Literacy
During Class time, our Tutors brought us though a PowerPoint. The PowerPoint covered the major work we will be going over as well as the important date. It also covers the information on what we will be learning and what by the end of the year we should have achieved. I have a link to the Modal hand book below, and I will be going to check back on it every once in a while to make sure I’m on the right path.

Maya
Over the last few months, I downloaded Maya for free using my Students ID. It is wroth noticing that Maya is now only free for Students as 2020 introduces a paid subscription for the stander public. I even created a small monster head to remind myself with some of the tools in the program including mesh to create now shape and applying colour textures.
Until the Next Class
My next class will be on 3rd of February. Until then I am to create a vase in Maya as a practice test to see how well I can use the program so far. In will also be using the PowerPoint we covered in class and fill in the important dates on my physicals calendar. This is so I can keep a better track of when my task are due in for. Lockdown mess up my sense of time. I will also be recording the feedback for last year’s work so I can learn from some of my mistakes and improve my overall work going foward.
