This is the last week to complete the year’s remaining project as the hand in date is the 17th of December 2020 at 23.55. Because this is not a full week the title has been adjusted.
During the Week
There is no class this week as the last session for this term was last week (10/12/2020). I finished off the basic for my animation in Adobe Animate. This include finishing the animation for the remaining robot arms, adding in and animating the control chip and it’s wires. Blood was added as well to make the drill arm look like it actually drills through flesh. I also went a little further and animated the doctor’s cloak and the test subject a little, to add more life to the scene. Small touches of animation like finger movement goes a long way.
After I felt the base animation was complete, I exported the product as a video and imported into a new Adobe Premiere Pro file. I used a mixture of the programs tools and YouTube tutorials (plus my own knowledge) to add the following VFX effects:
- Adding in the green screen filter.
- Creating both the TV snow and recreating the Camera’s blurred image resolution
- Inserting the Camera HUD details and Screen cracks images I collected from Google Images
Once that was done I went hunting on YouTube for free sound effects and downloaded them via a free YouTube to MP3 converter online, saving the files in one folder called sound. I imported the folder into the Premiere Pro project. I then added the tracks in one by one, using Audio Gain to adjust the volume, Audio Speed to adjust the speed and crop to cut the sound clip to my liking. It was a simple enough process but the audio for the arms did take some time to complete.
With the Animation fully complete, I exported the animation into a video format. It was however too big to upload on to Discord (free version) and I had to upload it onto my unlisted YouTube Channel, copying and pasting the video link instead.

Team Communication
Team communication was kept to a minimum. This was due to a personal situation that could not be helped. We did however keep in touch and gave feedback to each others work when needed. Chole is also the team member who will be putting the work altogether in one video file and uploading it to Blackboard. I am glad to see that Tim is getting an extension to his end of the animation so he can complete it as it has been a difficult time for him. I am happy with the team performance and I hope to work again with them in the future.
Conclusion
Overall, I am happy with how the work turned out. If I had the chance to redo this project I could have change elements of both the animation and the creation process that would have ended up improving the quality and time efficiency (Even after a restart, my layers are still a mess in Animate though it is better then before). I have been given valuable positive feedback from my class discord and I am proud of what I have accomplished. believe that the audio mixing combined with the details and timing helps tell a lot about the good Doctor.
I am looking forward to next year and all future projects.
