This weeks lecture was all about pitching and presenting.
When presenting or pitching there is a number of things to be remembered
Time limit –
There is a time limit for a reason and its important to try and stick to it, its okay to be 1 minute over or 1 minute under but no more
Easy to understand language –
There is no point of a presentation that is hard to understand because even if the presentation is 1 hour long the audience wont know what its suppose to be about
Use Slides –
No one wants to just listen to someone talk and talk without something else such as visuals to draw their attention
When using slides there is still a lot to consider
Use bullet points instead of sentences – A presentation should not have full sentences as the point of the presentation is for the audience to hear the speaker talk not for them to to read off a screen
No crazy fonts – make sure that the presentation has a font that is simple and easy to read
Use subtle transitions – transitions should be a fun simple way of moving the presentation along. They should not be over complicated and take away from the point of the presentation
Don’t overdo the slides – make sure to not have too much or too little slides, personally I feel like around 3 slides per minute is perfect for any presentation.
I have not done a lot of presentations before so this lecture allowed me to get an insight into what makes a good presentation
