Over the break I worked on the pipeline process test, a juggling loop animation, a balloon loop animation and some posters for the walls.
Pipeline Process
I started by blocking out the characters’ movements and camera movements. The arms do not move as I am making a separate juggling animation that will be applied to his arms later. I like the look of the bouncy hat on the owner and the flashing exclamation point in Gumballs eye. The stretch needs some work, and the timing is a little fast.
After adjusting the stretch and timing I lined all the frames. The owner and Lollipop were also coloured in this pass as the walk animation is a loop the is dragged across the frame, it was more time efficient to colour them in this pass.
Here are the animations separated into different layers, Gumballs arms will be added on a separate layer. I also added small shadows to his neck, belt and crank.
After compiling the characters and adding the juggling arms to Gumball I added the background and added a lens blur at 10 to offset the background from the middle ground. I also added kids slowly moving in the foreground and added lens blur at 15 to them. Overall, I am happy with the result of the pipeline test, there are a few things that need to be fixed such as the background looking too dull and dark, as well as adding the details to Gumballs outfit, this will be added at the end of production if time permits.

The Juggling Loop
I animated his eye to follow the balls as well as his arms throwing and catching the balls at different times. Overall, it’s not a bad start, his arm feels stiff, and body is stationary, I will improve the movement in the next rendition.

The Balloon Loop
I drew three balloons on different layers, made them a little transparent and added a highlight. I then animated using the animation the balloons slowly swaying using the curves in Krita. These will be added in the backgrounds of shots to add a little more dimension and movement, so the shots feel less still.

Posters
I illustrated some posters for the walls using the main characters Gumball and Lollipop as well as using some early concept art to make a few more characters for the posters.
(My work)
Nicole worked on finishing the backgrounds and creating two new arcade machines, this creates more variation to the background as there is now a tall and wide machine.

She also finished the rough animation; it still needs to be timed as some scenes flash through too quickly
