In the morning class Henry and Michael talked about this semester ahead. For this semester we will be working with the game development class to create a game. We were also split up into groups to research what was involved in the game development pipeline and what differs from the animation pipeline. I found that the game team will start with adding in stand in models to start coding the game while the animation team design, model, and texture the assets, once the assets are complete the game team will switch the stand in models with the finished assets.
In the afternoon class we met up with the game development class and split into our groups, we started by taking turns to show some of our work to the group to see what our strong suits are. Once we had all got to know each other we were tasked with building the tallest tower we could out of spaghetti, it had to support a marshmallow at the top. This is the tower my group made.
After finishing the icebreaker, the group was tasked with discussing ideas for a small level design to practice what it is like to work together on a game. The idea we came up with was an escape room with some simple puzzles and interactive props.
For homework we have to:
- Make a team name
- Figure out our individual roles
- What our game concept is
- Game room breakdown
- Communications and tools we are using
