3D Digital Literacy – Week 10 Adding Details

For this week I mostly focused on furthering my progress character model for assignment 2 but I did complete a task during class that focused on adding detail using sculpting mode without ruining the low poly design. we used a model of a elephant given to us so we could only focus on the details rather than worrying about creating a model.

I’ve found when using sculpting mode that I enjoy this process the most out of the modelling process due to the effect that it gives your model, in other words a basic model can become a stand out model due to textures given to it. I also like using the pen and tablet on the model as it feels like drawing on a model.

Below is my elephant model.

LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE!!!!

After details were complete I then baked the model to then colour in substance. I completed the UV mapping but was unable to colour my model due to some problems involving my model being 4.0 version of blender instead of 3.6 version. this meant that some of my controls in shader editor was different and unfamiliar with me. However I was still able to UV map my model which is shown below.

I’m glad that this happened during a task because now I can make sure that my character model is transferred into a older version of blender before baking and UV mapping for the final step of colouring which will make my process easier and faster to allow me to complete my model in time.
