Quick character sketches
For the fish character, they’ll be half humanoid and half fish. My designs all have similar body shapes as I feel like the character will be easier to animate swimming if they’re thin and nimble.
For these designs, I was experimenting with different colour palettes which I took from images of fish and also used the fish references by taking aspects from them and applying them to my designs.
I also used references from other art of fish people. It helped me to experiment with features like whether the characters would have hair or fins on their head and what the hair would like.
Human concept sketches
The human character is just supposed to look like an average person but will be wearing some sort of beech wear as the they’ll be on a beech.

A quick comic I made to experiment with facial expressions of the character. I really like this character as it’s big round eyes and mouth can make it look overly expressive and it’s head frills moving also help exaggerate it’s emotions. I also like it’s round head as I enjoy animating characters with round heads.
