For the last cycle, I decided to do a scared run and referenced two YouTube videos and the Animators Survival Kit to achieve the right look.
First I referenced this snippet from the Animators Survival Kit to get the general running poses for the legs and body.

Both YouTube videos exhibited a forward-leaning spine, an over-the-shoulder head movement, a scared expression and the hands held out in front of the character. I learned from my sneaking walk that I shouldn’t start by over-exaggerating the movements and instead start little and build up if it looks stiff.
