Class Blog- Typography

As a class exercise, we looked at how to manipulate type. we were given the task to shape everyday letters into something more interesting in Figma. For my frist attempt, I did not manipulate the shapes of the letters themselves, I simply change the size and the position of the letters;

Once I became a bit more familiar with using Figma, I tried to manipulate the letters themselves;

I’m very happy with how my “S” turned out, it almost looks like the beginning of a funky logo. I’m pleasantly surprised at how a little change to the letters themselves can make such a big visual impact.

In class, we also learnt a little bit about paragraphs. As a rule of thumb, paragraphs should always start from left intending to the left to make sure that our readers are engaged. ( Although that will depend on what culture you designing your products for, as an example, sometimes old school japan will read from right to left)

Another class excise that we did on typography is matching the right typography with the context, we were given 2 different pieces of literature and asked to match them with an appropriate typeface;

We then practised using Figma by putting our Frankenstein story onto a simple UI;
