Modelling the assets

I began to model many mushroom variation to be placed into our world, I created the heads of heads of each mushroom by simply halfing a square, filling it in and then using soft select to create a crevice for the stem to go into, I created the stem by created a cylinder and using the vertices to move it in different directions.

I modelled a tree stump by taking a cylinder and using the faces and the vertices to try and get get this stump shape, it doesn’t look like much as a model itself but it’s simple and I’m hoping that when I texture and add colour it will take its form.

I decided to experiment and I coloured this tree stump in my forger 3d modelling app to see how it would look, looking at it in colour I feel like my stump model will work in our 3d world, however I will probably take this model into substance painter anyway to get more detail in its painting style, as of right now my app only paints very blocky colours.

our group looked online for inspiration on how we may want our 3d world to look like.

We have been taking inspiration from other fantasy media that already exists, but we also have been looking on Sketchfab to het some style inspiration on now we will be 3d modelling, we wanna go for a more simple and round style with a very painted look to it, preferably more low poly.

Katie has created a style guide to help us during the modelling process, pointing our how all of our models should have soft edges apart from rocks in our world.

Concept art for 3d world

We where given options on different environments  we could make using 3d software, I decided to choose the fairy realm since it interested me the most, we where looking into unreal engine during our lecture and I think that is what my group is going to use to place our 3d world into since our world wouldn’t be in a building , it is just a space and we can block it out and make land with unreal.

I modelled an idea for what the mushrooms could look like, since our group is going for a cutesy more simple style just to see how it might look, Iv added hearts it’s as an idea for how we could texture or mushrooms, I also drew up a few mushroom designs using real mushroom as my inspiration, I tried to make them more unnatural mushroom colours to match the magical vibe that our world is going for.

I blocked out two, layouts that our world could have in u real engine and coloured them in Procreate with the colours and things we want our world to have in it.for the ,most part our group is has decided on purple and pink trees, also the mushrooms will be giant like the trees since the world is the size of a fairy, the group also wants a grand tree in the centre of the world, since it’s common for a lot of fairy media to portray a grand tree in the world.

I drew up some ideas for how our sky dome could be designed, we want it to be very dreamy and sparkily so this is what I have so far, I think our group either wants the pink sky or the green sky, Although it will be day time in our world we still want their to be stars in the sky to give it a more magical feeling.

I came up with some ideas for fairy characters that could inhabit the world, our group was thinking that we could maybe attempt to create a fairy statue to sit near the fairy tree to build the world, but that might be difficult so we will only attempt if we have free time once we have finished everything else. The fairy girls would only inhabit the world in 2d, maybe sitting near the pond or looking through a teapot window.
