Frame Your Design Challenge

We looked at the Frame Your Design Challenge this week, which allowed us to delve deeper into projects, narrowing down my own ideas for this healthcare application and my unique approach.

What are some of the possible solutions to your problem?

  • A gamification app, encouraging and motivating users through earning XP points, achieving goals and making the experience engaging and gun.
  • A narrative immersive app with a story, encouraging users to walk or run to different locations in real life, collecting items in a virtual map. Like Pokemon Go. Could use AR technology.
  • An app centered around existing characters – a superhero training app. Users use the app like a workout instruction manual. The app includes characters such as Hulk, Spider-Man, Batman etc. featuring different animated tutorials. The app could be aimed at kids to encourage them to be like their favorite heroes.

What is the problem you’re trying to solve?

A lot of users find workout routines boring and exhausting. This app will motivate and encourage users to exercise and get fit through an engaging and fun UX experience.

Try to frame it as a design question

How might we make an exercise and workout app fun to use?

Finally, write some of the context and constraints that you are facing

  • AR and VR technology is hard to convey through a prototype, it’s also hard to test.
  • COVID constraints
  • Users may not be able to walk or run freely around their neighbourhoods or immediate surroundings
  • Existing IP characters may not be able to be used for copyright reasons
  • There are many gamification apps already on the market

What’s the impact you’re trying to have

Improve physical health of users and make them motivated, engaged and having fun when using my app.
