This week we animated flour sacks while also creating storyboards for our upcoming animation. I found this fun and exciting to try, however, I did use a different software from last week so I took some time trying to understand it.

I animated the flour sack waving at first to understand how to use the software best, and attempted a trial fall.

I struggled with the fall as I couldn’t quite get spacing correct and because I was moving my timeline so much in order to create more frames, the animation became disjointed. In the end I think I understood how best to work with the software, but I could only animate 24 frames and no more. This was frustrating because I didn’t understand why, but I still think the final animation came out okay.

Our group discussed our role in the upcoming animated video we would be doing as well as what order our characters are going to appear in. I chose China White to animate as I thought animating an older lady would give me more creative liberty. The characters are going to be in a casino, and my character will be at the slot machines winning everything. China White will be after Espresso and before Irish Coffee. Espresso will shoot a ball down a pool table and the ball will morph into a coin, which will go into the slot machine. The camera will pan out and China White will pull the lever, getting tripe sugars (a form of tripe 7 in this world). Money will fill the screen, but the currency will turn into poker chips, leading into Irish Coffee’s segment.

(my own study of her character design to see how I can animate her while maintaining my style).
