IXD302 – Proposal: Writing Content

I decided that I needed to start writing up the content for my proposal document.

I was taking a read at this document – ‘A Project Guide to UX Design’ – which proved to be very useful in regards to writing up a good project proposal. It was incredibly detailed, and gave a lot of very helpful advice. I found the document to be extremely helpful and rewarding to writing my own proposal’s content.

Here is a selection of pages from the document that particularly seemed to help me in writing up my content. I would have found the writing process incredibly tough if it hadn’t been for this document, which thoroughly explained through every point, small or big.

Project Overview

Hill Street, Belfast, is seeking to build a brand new online presence through a new website and brand. The branding and website will include both a brand new logo and a reflection of the attractions, business and culture that Hill Street offers to tourists and locals. The goal of the project is to represent Hill Street in a brand new way, that will attract both tourists and locals to visit the area, thus creating more business for the street. It will also allow for users to learn more about the street, and it’s history and culture.

Project Approach

Jessica Donnan has identified a standard process for project success with their clients. Although each of these phases may not be applicable to Hill Street, the entire process is defined as follows:

I will dedicate a portion of every initiative to understanding your industry and your competitors and how they do business in order to be as informed as possible prior to beginning the project.

I will work closely with your subject matter experts or users to define the requirements for building the project correctly.

In the render stage, I will create a develop all the pieces of the project. In my experience, any development phase requires a lot of heads-down, focused work effort but also timely, open communication with your team.

In the iterate phase, I will repeat the entire life-cycle of the project.

I will move as quickly as possible to bring the project to life, and this often requires creating multiple iterations in rapid timelines. This requires direct and timely involvement from you and your dedicated resources.

I test every project throughout the course of the render phase; however, I also require an extra set of eyes – from my own testing team and from your designated user group/audience to perform goal-based testing. This additional round of testing helps to ensure that as few stones as possible are left unturned in order to deliver a project that has been rigorously evaluated from multiple levels.

Upon successful completion of the five previous phases and your signed approval, I will enable the solution and take it live.
