Creating an element poster
I did some research into posters based on the elements, I wanted to create my own to spark design inspiration for my project and I thought this would be a fun side project and you never know where these types of things can take you. I have included figma file screenshots below of the different posters that I set myself the challenge to create. Taking inspiration from my previous research I really enjoyed the really simple and minimalistic design approaches that the designers and artists took so that was a big inspiration for me when creating the below posters. For these posters I wanted to focus on the exploration and focus on type and limited colour use.
Thoughts
I experimented with different fonts as well as composition and page layouts. As I have said previously I took a simple approach and I enjoy the focus on colour and font, good posters don’t need to be overwhelmed with unnecessary visual noise. Some posters above are much stronger than others but I didn’t put much pressure on myself when designing these, these aren’t final designs.
Colour palette
I decided to work with a limited colour palette as I felt drawn to use darker more moody colours- inspired through the research I have done previously.
What did I learn?
I had fun experimenting with making this poster. I think that this gave me some needed inspiration for this project and sparked a lot of design-spiration for me. This side project was enjoyable and I gained a lot from it, this idea got me thinking that perhaps I could use this ‘poster’ idea for a physical element in my app- perhaps this could be an option to print out. None of the posters above are final they are just a fun exploration. I think I will continue this experimentation and idea and bring it further into my project.
