We worked on adding details to the retopologies elephant

We started by sculpting onto the elephant using a multiresolution modifier, after we had done some sculpting we then had to turn the sculpts into a texture map to be put on top of the model. I originally turned on Dyntopo to sculpt but this made it very messy and ugly looking so I restarted the sculpting. this was my second attempt and it turned out much better.

We inserted an image texture category, named it elephant and then baked it to create the texture map for the sculpting details.

And then when I tried to bake the ambient occlusion map my laptop would go very slow and the loader at the bottom wouldn’t load, I wasn’t sure if this was cause I had some settings wrong, or if my laptop couldn’t handle it.

But eventually it did load and so I inserted it in to base colour. This is all I got done in class, as I was having trouble getting the bake to work. I needed to remove a modifier that came on the elephant file, in order to get the bake to work but I didn’t know this for about 20 minutes as a waited till the teacher could help me incase I messed something up trying to fix it on my own.

I will continue to follow the tutorial at home as we get to bring it into substance painter and paint on cool details so I’m looking forward to that.
