I was very proud of this piece and the meaning behind it. I elaborated on it in great detail in my sketchbook. Technically speaking, I was content with the skill I showed in this piece. I believe that you can see my sewing, stuffing and appliqué skills improve, as I progress through the piece.

larger version of my mirror. This piece was based on the cover of my handmade sketchbook. It remains blank in the middle on purpose. When I had beguny journey in this workshop, I was very much still exploring the direction in which my work was taking. In the end, the floral imagery outside the circle, transfers into the centre of it. Manifesting this idea in my final piece.

Updated bag challenge

my bag challenge had sat dormant for some time. However when charity shopping I found, what I felt was, an ideal material for the bag. I embroidered the small clown on the front of it. The clown was a reoccurring character in my work this year. He is modelled loosely after a China doll clown from the fist semester, who still resonates with me.
I believe that it subtly builds on the fiction imagery that was very much present in my handmade sketchbook.

the bag is intended to serve as a bag for wool, somewhat reminiscent of a pencil case.

laying out my final piece was more time consuming than I had initially thought it would be. I found the spider Webb motif time consuming yet incredibly effective. I believe that it very much adds to the piece, though the small intricate lines of the wool echoing the intricate details of the crocheted circles.
ultimately, I was very pleased overall, and although I had altered my initial plan a few times, the concept stayed the same and is very much what I had initially imagined.

Final piece experimentation

I elaborated further on the idea behind this in my sketchbook, however I used scrap fabrics, old clothing and even plastic bags while experimenting for my final piece. These pieces did take time yet I felt as though they lacked the skill and intricate details of the croched wool flowers. The petals were initially intended to make an entire circle but the piece was too time consuming, for an effect that would not have been worth it, in my opinion.
