WORLD OF ANIMATION – Poster Reflection

REFLECTION

Chika and Cor weren’t in the First week so we were unable to discuss the poster and I didn’t want to start anything without them. I spent that week trying to catch up on other work. I later added them onto a group chat. On the second week Chika was running late so I met up with Cor to discuss the poster. We later learnt we didn’t necessarily have to do the history of French animation so we discussed shows animated by French companies. We settled on Arcane and when Chika arrived we talked about our shared love for the story and characters. We then decided to make a poster on the personal journey of our selected characters, I chose to write about Jayce as his character stuck out to me the most. I’ve noticed he gets a bad reputation and is mainly seen as cocky and arrogant – or “a young, hotter Elon Musk” – and I wanted to do his character’s writing a service and hope to shed some light on his true personality. As this was on a poster and not meant to be an essay I kept my analysis summarised, I don’t feel I’ve talked enough about him as I had to be conscious of how much space I was taking up.

The poster’s design originally reflected the city of Piltover from Arcane with its navy blue and gold. Instead of changing the design altogether I imported some doodles I drew using digital neon glow pens, I tried to keep them as similar looking to Jinx’s infamous graffiti. I feel they add more personality to the poster and helps it stand out more. I really enjoyed designing the poster as I was able to use my creativity to create a poster that is aesthetically pleasing but also efficiently  informs the readers. The biggest challenge we faced was trying to not insert essays into the poster so we were pretty limited to what we could write without taking up space. We were rather pushed for time with the poster as we were all busy with life as well as other assignments, some writing was handed in last minute so we had to quickly add it in. Because of the late hand in our poster’s presentation may look incomplete in some areas, we ran into some editing problems which delayed our printing further.  We were unable to get our poster printed in time.
