Pre-production Blogs: #4 (Storyboarding + Previs)

When it came time to start storyboarding our animation, we were at first convinced that the set would be a living room- as stated in blog #3. As such we originally had all of our storyboards set in a living room.

We originally had a plan for our animation to follow the typical Hero’s Journey narrative where our dust bunnies would start their journey in the carpet, then they would come across the threat they would have to face and would be forced into the zone which they were most uncomfortable and to overcome this problem they would need to escape the threat (which would be the fox hoover) and defeat it before they could return back to their comfort zone again. We discussed what sort of general story we would be going for and then we began creating our storyboards to fit with the basic line of events that we agreed on for the animation.

After we had all completed our storyboards Teirnan then offered to look at all of the boards to compile a final set of storyboards that we could use for our final animation and using these official boards we each went away and began creating a previs with the initial concept room we had constructed.

We each had our own interpretations of the official line-up of storyboards and due to this we all had different looking previs to show each other. Below is my version of the previs based around our final set of storyboards.
