Topic Search for (Essay) :

Intro:

Before I started preparing my essay, I began by doing some research that was more specific to the subject I wanted to talk about, so my research was more focused on the 3D platform and its impact on screens, such as its benefits/negatives, key points in this subject, evolution over the years, etc…My first research was to find out more about how 3D worked on screens in earlier times, as it evolved over the years. For the first search I looked up what 3D animation is, a quick and easy way to find out about the subject in more detail.

To help me better understand each point of my questionnaire, I started researching different points in 3D animation to be able to solve each point that is important to me in the story or in the creation.

Start of research:

After coming up with a lot of ideas for my essay, the one that caught my attention the most was 3D animation, which for me is a very interesting topic! But first of all I asked some of my tutors for their opinion, so that they could let me know what they thought of the idea, and they ended up finding the subject interesting.

About 3D animation:

In order to do my initial research on the subject, I tried to look into different subjects that might be important to cover in my essay. To make it easier to understand the roots of the 3D platform, I did some research on websites that helped me understand 3D animation a little better.

In the process of getting to understand the 3D process, I began to understand some other areas that 3D animation contains, such as the areas of CGI animation and VFX visual animation, which end up being part of the 3D platform, but with different aspects. For example, CGI stands for computer generated imagery, which is the use of computer graphics in art and media. It can be 2D or 3D animations, objects or renderings; the type of art or media can be a film, a television programme, a video game or a simulation. CGI can be used in films ranging from sci-fi epics to quiet, intimate dramas and Visual Effects (VFX) is a term used to describe images created, manipulated or enhanced for any film or other moving media that does not occur during live-action filming. Visual effects usually involve integrating real footage with these manipulated images to create realistic-looking environments for the context.

VFX examples in movies:

Dumbo(2019)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)

The Matrix(1999)

CGI Examples in Movies:

Epic (2013)

Rio (2011)

The Book of Life (2014)

Turbo(2013)

With the help of some research, I tried to study this part of animation in order to be able to understand more about the points of 3D animation work as well, as it is a very broad platform of subjects, and for this I had to understand some films with CGI/VFX styles. So with this research I was able to understand some more aspects of films that are very good in my opinion with CGI productions such as Rio, Toy Story, Finding Nemo and others.

3D Points:

To write my essay I tried to understand more about the impact that the 3D world has had on animation today, we know that everyone has their own opinion and thoughts about the creation of the 3D platform, with this platform we have had updates in animation with better visual qualities bringing more realism to each scene produced, depth, colours, textures etc…

Texture:

Texture in 2D/3D has its great techniques and qualities but with different details for the production style, for example in 3D we can observe great realisations for the parts of objects, character features and other interesting aspects that 3D brings.
