Rule of thirds 1st hand examples

I went out into a forest and tried to take some photos with the rule of thirds and geometric shapes in mind.

I used the rule of thirds grid which my phone allowed me to use while taking photos.

composition studies of my world- small things big

To experiment with one point and two point perspective and different compositions, I created a few black and white thumbnails. I found composition within these straight forward and easy to make as I believe I’ve picked up the rule of thirds decently.

Inspirations and references

I used these images to come up with ideas of what the objects I should use and ways to lay them out.

One point perspective- Howl’s Moving Castle

2 point perspective- Gravity Falls and Infinity Train

To help us understand perspective more, we had to identify it within different media. This made me realise that the points within 2 point perspective can be quite far away which I found a bit challenging at first to figure out.

Over the Garden Wall

By studying these different shots allowed me to analyse the composition of the pieces and how they all use the rule of thirds to their advantage to direct the viewers attention towards the main subject of the shot.
