As a travel app is something that will created this semester a very important element of any app is the icons as it is the first point of contact for the user. That is why it is very important to know how to create quality icons that user will be able to recognize and that will add to the interface design.
As a class we were then shown different icons and shown a quick tutorial of how some of them can be recreated using a vector based tool such as figma.
Two icon pages were shown to and a task was set that one of the icon pages had to be recreated –
I decided to create the first set of icons using Illustrator. I also tried to create it as close to the original image as possible in order to see if I could thoroughly recreate it.
I then tried to challenge myself even further and I used Figma to recreate some of the other icons. I decided to change some of the icons colour scheme and designs in order to further develop my skills.
I really liked this task as I felt that it was really helpful. It made me realise how basic shapes such as a rectangle, circle, square, polygon and triangle can create various different images/objects. This also helped make me more confident in relation to creating icons for my own travel app as I knew that since I had done it before, I can do it again!!
