CREATING A MOODBOARD:
REFLECTION:
Throughout creating this moodboard I tried to stay on the topic of technology parts as well as chemistry imagery. As a result there was a large variety of spherical shapes as well as sharp corners in the board, this is something I’ll have to think about more when creating my own monogram as I dont know which will fit the overall feel of the application more, and after research from last year I know ill have to keep consistency – picking one or the other so imagery stays the same throughout.
I found that i was really drawn to circuitboard imagery – including specific circuitboard parts as well as the wiring connecting it all together.
After further inspection looking in detail at circuitboards I realised I could potentially manipulate the lines connecting the parts – allowing shapes and letters to be made.
CREATING A MINDMAP OF IMAGERY:
I created a mindmap of potential imagery that could be used in my monogram/ visual marque. I found this exercise to be really useful in considering all angles of the style of lettering as well as objects involved with the subject matter – I needed to consider both chemistry imagery, as well as iphone hardware imagery.
COMBINING LETTERS IN AN INTERESTING WAY:
USING PENCIL & PAPER:
USING FIGMA:
I found Figma easiler to use in the way that all the letters remained the same size and were proportionate to eachother. As a result they were a lot easiler to manipulate despite there being less creative freedom.
LOOKING AT TECH IMAGERY AND SIMPLIFYING IT:
After looking at some imagery of circuit boards, I decided to hone in a bit more on microchips in particular. There was a huge range of options with them and I found it difficult narrowing it down.
DIGITISING MY VISUAL MARQUE:
I used sigma to finally digitise it. After creating my word mark I will return to my visual mark and see if it needs tweaking as they will be used together throughout the brand, but for now I’m happy with it.
