We Learned how to use Krita today. We started by animating a ball crossing the screen focusing on timing.

I started by making a constant speed ball, then I made 2 different levels of ease in and ease out. Krita is actually pretty easy to animate in, but it is very inconvenient to export out the animations as you need a separate application. But now that i have it all set up it shouldn’t be too hard to export as an animation.

I then made a bouncing ball animation in Krita, I do quite like the ease of animating in Krita, as long as I am animating something that doesn’t have to change to much it is very easy to position the drawing in the frames and then adjust. But I imaging that if I was animating a head turn I wouldn’t be able to block it all out then adjust the frames as I would have to adjust the frame before I duplicated it for the next frame, and adjust then duplicate, etc.

Then in groups we talked about finalizing character design.

This was my original quick concept sketch of both the characters, the colours need work but I just wanted to throw some down to try get a feel for what they will look like together.

I did a better doodle of both characters to help convey what I thought they should look like. I really like my designs as I feel like they capture the personality of the characters that I know about so far. Wherein the human is a lonely, gamer, obsessed with the occult; And the Demon is cocky, confident, suave, but also secretly quite lonely.

We then went on a joint board and did some doddles to make the design.

I like some of the ideas we have, others I like less. I dislike the demon design as he was meant to be cocky and confident but he looks edgy kind of like a Thug/bully, which isn’t what the idea for him was, but I do like the human design and the cat. I like the outfit of the demon I think its just the head and tail that need work.
