Year 2: Environment design references and ideas + final evaluation

my first idea was a city setting with budlings in the background and my character posing ether in the street or on a building with rubble from a recent super hero battle

another idea i have is a superhero lair like the Bat cave but fast food themed so the walls and ceiling are exposed rocks and are cave-like while the floor and countertops  looks like McDonald, i also had the idea of having my final render looking like a comic book cover.

wanted a classic comic feel to it so i got some old comic covers that is just a character in a simple background.

some quick sketches of what i want my environment to look like

might attempt making a Spiderverse style shader on unreal.

Final evaluation

i quite like how my final render turned out although there are some problems with the model like theres 2 squares with the wrong texture on the back for some reason, the weight paints are kinda janky especially on the cape and wriest. the spatchula also blends in to the background in the dark parts so i had to add an outline round the main model on Photoshop, shield also looks more darker than i would want it to and kinda messy with the metallic look when mixed with comic filter on Photoshop. i also wish i made the cape bigger and more visible, when designing my character i wanted to have his head kind of resemble a burger bap by using a bowl cut or have him wear a helmet but i never like how they looked but i was able to kind of get a similar shape with a slick back hair style though i think it would be a bit of  a stretch to say his head resembles the shape of a burger, something that really bugs me about my model is the sesame seeds on the shoulders don’t have depth like how it does on the shield and i think it’s because i accidently applied the multitrees modifier and i only realised after doing a lot of  work on my model so i tried to use an older save to bake the displacement from it onto the current one but then never really worked. The story i was to show in my scene is a super hero themed around a burger in the middle of a battle with a foe off-camera, though  other ideas was my character posing in his super hero HQ like the Batcave but i would need computer assets and i couldn’t find any for free so i changed the setting a bit and i think it worked out better. the blocking stage i went a bit too detailed with trying to get the shape of everything super close to how i want it to look when i should have left it at the most basic body parts. i watched a lot of videos on how to make shaders and effects on Blender and unreal that was kind of a waste of time because i ended up just using Photoshop for what i wanted my final outcome to look like.
