Introduction
I was assigned in Team 7 in regards to researching a poster of Japanese Animation. It wasn’t until late April we started inviting members into the group.
Discord Meetings
Within the first stage , we’re just suggesting what research is based on. These suggestion includes Studio Trigger, Hideaki Anno and Studio Ghibli. Eventually we settled down with Studio Trigger, as the main basis of our research onwards.
Studio Triggers (Research)
When researching Studio Triggers, we looked at the history and what makes the studio’s art direction of design and audio so distinguishable from other existing Japanese animation studios.
Studio Trigger is well known producing various hit Japanese animation over the course of years , from the start to the present. The Studio’s members of animators and directors was originally from Studio Gainax’s. A company renowned of producing classic animation such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Appleseed etc. Sometime, these Ex staffs eventually formed Studio Trigger with it’s first original work: Kill La Kill.
In my research, Studio Trigger’s choice of audio tracks has always these dramatic musical piece attach to them. It’s often tied with a well known composer, Hiroyuki Sawano. He has worked with the studio in many occasions producing hit piece of explosive tracks that’s tied with J-Pop, J-Rock, electronic, Orchestral and Symphony to create uplifting and ‘epic’ moments.
His work appears prominent exclusively each with their own ‘catch phrases’ in the likes of Promare’s tracks associated with J-Pop. whilst Kill La Kill heavily features J-Rock piece as both genres matches the animation art style of flashy and punk-like.
Reflective Summary
In all honest, I have been struggling with managing my time and attendance due to various reasons. However, I’ve been reading class materials to keep myself up-to-date, when assigned in groups of 5. I made sure to attentively keep notes to others progress and uphold communication meetings when creating the research poster.
As mentioned above, while I have no problem communicating with others in being able to complete an assignment as groups. I still struggle when it comes to attending lessons.
