Creating a digital version of my “Little Lillies” zine allowed me to practice my digital drawing skills. I experimented with a handful of tools, but I choose two to work with. I limited my colour palette to the colours I was trying to create traditionally. I really enjoyed playing around with the colours and the different types of brushes. I stayed away from brushes without any texture, as I was to trying to recreate the traditional texture.
Being able to take this piece digitally gave me a new skill set to experiment with. I was able to erase mistakes and copy elements (like the creature’s face), something I struggled to copy on the original version. I was able to colour correct my female character on the back page without having to recreate the whole image.
Time wise this piece took me under a day, compared to the traditional version which took me three days. I enjoyed how quickly I could colour and refine it digitally.

The inspiration for the textured brushes and the digital style I choose came from the graphic novel “Behind the Curtain” made by Del Giudice Sara (2022.)
