SHOWREEL
Since we’re required to make a show reel, I decided to look at some videos about it to give me a rough idea where to begin, I compiled videos of my work and sort the order from my most proudest work to least, I do plan putting most of my best works near the front and end while the middle will have some decent work.
LOOKING INTO OTHER’S SHOW/DEMO REEL
I really like the style of the font used but also the work included, from what I can see there’s finished work that is completely tidy and then work in progress but overall the work is still extremely clean and captures a lot of skills and understanding of work, alongside with a few different art styles.
I also really enjoyed this video showing side by side progress of the animation. Though the intro and outro is very basic, the work in this also shows a lot of skills, also the work is clean. From both videos I think including a clean outline for my unfinished animation is better than having a very scribbly animation.
INTRO & OUTRO
I looked into some other artist’s demo reel to give me an idea of what sort of design I should go for: 
Surprisingly that their intro and outro is very basic, a readable text over white or black background. At least from these I know to include my name, the year and contact details. This is what I have for my place holder while I compile my demo reel.
CREATING MY SHOW REEL
This is my first creation of my demo reel which isn’t very funky or cool, most of it is just compiling work together and making it flow together well. I want to also include some process work the same as DK.
Also I should upload on Vimeo, YouTube has a weird faded dark at the top that doesn’t look very appealing on my website.
This is the second time making the demo reel, I lined up the videos up to the beat of the music and tried including some progress work that I have saved.
PORTFOLIO
Along with my showreel, I decided creating a website portfolio would be really fun to make but mainly nicer to look at for managers when applying for jobs. I was terrified of using wix but my friend Chloë had given me a hand on the basics and I was able to start some basic layouts before looking into some artists’ websites that I’ve been really into. Also this hopefully demonstrates more of my concept artist skills while my showreel can capture more of my 2D animation skills.

Looking into both of these artists’ website, I love the simplicity of it, it’s not too crowded with colour allowing ‘breathing’ room. They’ve also kept most of their use of fonts simplistic which I’ve also taken a fat liking to as originally I was going to make my own font.
CREATING MY OWN
Here’s my currently page, I wish I had taken more time for myself to create work for portfolio as most of them are my university work that I’m not the proudest of. In this, I want to link my CV and showreel. I hope it captures some of my personality and is easy to navigate.
INTERVIEW
We have industry people come in to do a mock interview with us while working on assignments, I was interviewed by Kerry McCormick from Jam Media along with Mike. I hadn’t really prepared much as I was more focused on assignments but after the interview I was given a lot of feedback on what I could do better and what to avoid. The job role I had picked for the interview was concept artist as it’s something I’d like to do, it’s very competitive too so it gives me more experience.
I needed to make sure to sound enthusiastic, the following person who came in and did the interview sounded really passionate about the work and wasn’t afraid to talk a lot on. I also needed to make sure I relate everything back to previous work done with groups as I mentioned something more personal for ‘when did you have a difficult time and how did you manage through it.’
I think before going into an interview I need to have a few of their projects in mind to bring up and talk about to make it more like a conversation rather a feeling of being interrogated. I believe overall I did okay since I was able to give long responses but I did give a few one or two word responses. Another thing I should keep in mind next time is if they asked another question related to the question before, they didn’t think I said anything relating to it and should take some time to rethink and link what I’m saying to the question.
