This week, I attempted the walk cycle in Toon Boom which took up a lot of time mainly relating to working out the shortcuts and pen settings. Also along with attempted the walk in 3D on blender through the rain rig, which the results are aren’t pretty and just not pleasing to rewatch on a loop.
TOON BOOM
I did spend a lot of time making sure it looked clean when I was adding in each limb, I should’ve just made it messy to get this done and try adding a secondary action but oh well at least it’s pretty to look at right now.
When I got home, I started slapping together a new walk animation with less exaggerated features from the first one to then mix in some secondary animation such as the butt cheeks that didn’t really show up. I then decided to add in shoelace and an egg on the top of the head just to make it my vibe.
In the end I also added a strange ponytail just to give it a few more animation. The green ball was suppose to be a top hat for my egg but really the end result for it didn’t really flow that well, it’s most likely that I tried adding the secondary action on the same layer so I’m missing a few frames to make it flow smoothly.
The feedback I received on this was that the end of the hand should have some more movement to allow it more personality, luckily this was only for practise so I kept this in mind when creating my walk cycle for my submission.
BLENDER
This is my first attempt in 3D, generally I’m not the best at 3D work and not the biggest fan so further on in this assignment you’ll see less and less of this but enjoy my failed attempt at animating a walk:
