3D Previs [WEEK 4]

I loved the process of creating the 3D previs, everything looks so unclean giving it a humorous look. I mainly focused on the setting up the camera mostly in today’s class since I’m absolutely dog water with it, the first exercise which we tried was just learning how to move the camera, giving it special settings to use ‘WASD’ to move around and changing to a different camera which I had taken notes while watching the video to remember the shortcuts.

This didn’t take as long as the other two exercise I’m about to tackle. For this lil fella, we had to parent the parts together before animating the mapping of the movements while also using the camera. This is what my end result looks like:

I generally enjoyed these as I was able to see other people’s results of this work but mainly the people in my group so whenever we do this we can see who struggled with this and who didn’t, mainly just to note down if they needed help or if they’ll take longer to set it up.

This is probably one of the more challenging exercise as we have to reference from the movie clip to make this previs, this’ll help up when we’re making ours and comparing it to the storyboard making sure it flows. We’re mainly just focusing on the first 40 seconds as it would be cruel to allow a noobie like me to recreate the whole clip.

The thing that I do first is set up my scene before adding cameras so I can mainly focus on the action, just using the last few seconds to find roughly where to place the dinosaur and the car before finally adding in the people to only then make sure the poses are roughly the same.

I just worked out what 40×24 is and set the end frame the amount before working on so that I don’t mess up the timing. While I also set my view to roughly where the camera would stand.

This is what I had so far, I messed up my camera so I had to go back and fix it.

Took a rest to do some other things and yeah didn’t take much screen shots but here’s what the results look like.
