Escape : Storyboarding [WEEK 2]

This week for our group project, my group started getting the rough storyboards completed in around 2 days. Before we started them we tried coming with a clear idea of the plot to which I struggled with mainly with just trying to talk about my ideas with my group, don’t know why maybe got a little nervous. Below is an image of what we wrote on the board during class while we discussed about it, honestly none of the plot at the time was interesting or that we believed could fit into around the 30 second limit.

We had the idea of customers coming in and they’re escaping them or that they’re escaping the chef but no one really wanted to rig humanoids, just around 5 minutes of twiddling our thumbs I don’t remember who but someone had mention a rolling pin killing each pastry. We just took that idea and ran with it. Now all we had to do was come up with how the rolling pin kills them while they try to escape.

Jessica typed out the rough idea, we decided to spice it up changing a few things in our own storyboards so we have a few different selections for endings and openings. After the storyboard completed, I plan on going over the characters again and seeing who will be creating which character and hopefully discuss this further through a discord call about the storyboards.

STORYBOARD

My storyboard’s camera angles are pretty wacky and some character placement are also wrong look incorrect but again this is just a rough idea it gets the idea across so we can live, laugh, love.

VOICE CALL

With my storyboard completed I did rush my group to get there’s done and start setting up a time to set up a voice call. I wasn’t paying much attention to the group chat, we could’ve done the call on Tuesday but my eyes just glossed over that so instead it was on a Saturday around 10am-2pm. Ingrid had to work around 2pm where Zoe and Jessica was free around 2pm. I decided to get in a call with Ingrid early just asking what parts of the storyboards from each she likes so I can pass on her opinions to the others at 2. This was planned on Friday and we still haven’t received any text from Eve by the end of the day until morning noting that she wasn’t available.

As 2pm came around, I was able to join the voice call with Jessica and Zoe. We discussed mainly about slicing up different parts of storyboards and clapping them together. We also only had 4 storyboards to look at since we are missing Eve’s storyboard. Ingrid before mentioned she liked Zoe’s storyboard before leaving so I spent most of the time looking at her storyboard and used it as a start.

This whole process took a peaceful and wholesome 30 minutes to get done. Now we just need to focus on the character design and finding an artist to take our main inspiration from so that we all don’t create something that looks odd when put into one file. We then also discussed about colour and lighting, Ingrid before leaving mentioned warm lighting so we’ll be leaning towards that with some pastels.

Below are just some images we used while during our discussion:
